"This has been an important part of my life – having women's voices being heard and educating women about their power to change society."
"Encouraging women to utilize their own financial resources for their own ideals was a very important part of equalizing society's response to women – to see them as equal partners, not just as adjuncts. I felt a definite identification with the ideal of educating women about their power through philanthropy. I think that women have to learn how to use their finances effectively. I think they have to take that responsibility. Women can no longer say, "Oh, I don't have any money" or "My husband controls all the money." Today, women have control. It's an important thing they have to recognize that in addition to getting the money, they also get the responsibility that comes with it. I felt that supporting the Women's Philanthropy Institute was the best way to get a message out on a national level."
