Biography

Barbara Coury (M.A.’12) is the current president of the North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM) and vice chancellor of development for NCSSM, which is part of the UNC system.

Barb oversees all fundraising activity and administers grants and endowment proceeds to faculty and programs. Barb was formerly the national director of foundation, federated, and special event giving at the American Red Cross. In that position, she was responsible for raising $250 million a year, and growing that revenue line.

Prior to this, she was the regional chief development officer at American Red Cross of Indiana, vice president of development at the Community Health Network Foundation, the director of development at St. Richard's School and director of development at Purdue University. 

Barb is an executive master’s graduate of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and holds a BA in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University.
