Perry Hines is a former corporate marketing executive and now serves as the Principal of The Hines Group, LLC. Founded in 2006, The Hines Group is a data-driven consulting firm helping businesses with strategic marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising and M&A activities. The firm has helped clients in the financial services, publishing, technology, manufacturing, retail and nonprofit sectors increase revenue, evaluate divestiture strategies, launch new products, manage PR crises, and identify/evaluate new market niches. The Hines Group excels in identifying, mitigating and eliminating barriers to success for organizations in a broad cross-section of industries.
Perry was elected an independent member of the board of directors by the shareholders of the Horace Mann Educators Corporation (NYSE: HMN). He has over 25 years of C-level experience with Fortune 100 companies including General Mills, Pfizer, Target, CKE Restaurants, Inc., Swiss Reinsurance Corporation, Safeco, Lincoln Financial Group and Irwin Financial Corporation. He has stewarded such well known brands as Cheerios, Wheaties, Yoplait yogurt, Robitussin, Chapstick and Hardee's restaurants. He also has held leadership roles with Indiana-based nonprofit organizations Truth @ Work, Indiana Black Expo and most recently, Shepherd Community Center. In addition to his thriving consulting practice, Perry serves as the Director of Advancement for Covenant Christian High School.
Perry is an avid community volunteer and has served on local and national boards of directors including the Indiana History Museum, Indianapolis Urban League (Chairman), Indiana Humanities (Treasurer), Madame Walker Theatre Center (Vice Chairman), Indianapolis Zoo, Boy Scouts of America Crossroads Council, Central Indiana Youth for Christ, Indiana Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Music Crossroads, Indiana Youth Institute, University of Minnesota Alumni Association, Western Kentucky University President’s Advisory Board, Western Kentucky University Research Innovation Center, Rocky Mount, North Carolina Big Brothers Big Sisters, Nash County, North Carolina Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Minnesota Epilepsy Association.
Perry has received numerous accolades and awards, including being named one of the 10 most powerful young business executives in Fort Wayne, one of the IBJ's Forty under 40 and Who's Who in Black Indianapolis.
Perry is a first-generation college graduate having received his B.A. in Journalism from Western Kentucky University, attended Indiana University Law School in Bloomington and received his MBA with high honors from the University of Minnesota where he concentrated in marketing.
Perry and his wife Lisa, also a first-generation college graduate who holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and is now a professor at Butler University, have been married 31 years and have two adult sons. Harrison, 28, attended Carmel High School, graduated from Duke in 2012, received his Masters of Theological Studies from Duke in 2016 and graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine in June, 2018. Harrison recently married his med school sweetheart, who is now a pediatric resident at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, CA.
His youngest son Bradford, 25, is a graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit, a 2015 graduate of Xavier University and is finishing up his third year of law school at the University of Iowa.
Perry likes to mentor inner-city fatherless males, young adult business leaders, golf, travel and spend time with his family. Perry and Lisa reside in the Indianapolis suburb of Carmel, Indiana.
