Rob Smith was elected Vice President for Community Development at Lilly Endowment, effective July 1, 2018. The Endowment’s community development division supports efforts that enhance the quality of life in Indianapolis and Indiana. It also provides funding throughout the country for compelling causes that are consistent with the values and interests of its founders.
Prior to joining Lilly Endowment, Rob worked for Eli Lilly and Company after earning an MBA in finance from the Kelley School of Business in 1996. While at Lilly, Rob was a financial analyst, minority business coordinator, manager of investor relations, director of corporate communications, senior director of corporate responsibility and president of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, a 501c3 private foundation dedicated to philanthropic causes in Indiana and around the world.
After graduating from Indiana University in 1989, Rob served as an Indiana Governor’s Fellow, special assistant to the state budget director, and budget director and media liaison for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
