An applicant for the PhilD. is eligible for a variety of external financial aid opportunities, including federal aid (as determined by the FAFSA), private scholarships, and employer-based funding.
In addition to financial aid available to students who qualify and opt for those programs, the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy offers the following fellowship opportunities to Professional Doctorate in Philanthropic Leadership (PhilD.) admitted students:
The PhilD. Gateway Fund supports partial tuition for admitted graduate students in the PhilD. program with demonstrated financial need. Fellows will be chosen by the PhilD admissions committee, with support for the students granted for the first year of the PhilD. program.
This award does not guarantee the same or similar award for the following two years of the program; you will need to re-apply with an updated statement and FAFSA each year. Any admitted 2024 PhilD. student in the cohort starting the program in August 2024, may apply for the PhilD. Gateway Fund. You must submit a seat deposit before applying for the fund.
Submit both requirements by April 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Mission Throttle is funding a competitive fellowship designed for students admitted to the Professional Doctorate in Philanthropic Leadership (PhilD.) program with an interest in pursuing a course of study centered on Impact Investing and accelerating the ecosystem of financing the needs in the philanthropic sector. The field of impact investing and innovative finance is somewhat nascent, but desperately needed both domestically and internationally.
We look forward to pragmatic proposals for PhilD. applied research topics, ranging from innovative systematic solutions for increasing wide adoption of Impact Investing and capitalizing the realization of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG’s), lifting reliable evidence proving (or not) the superior financial performance (Alpha) created by investing with impact, to lifting up impact measurement solutions for this form of investing. We are interested in finding leaders who wish to explore how to advance culture change and real-world social funding tools, platforms and solutions to solve ESG goals in our country and beyond.
Applicants should address their relevant proposed applied research project as part of the required Personal Statement within the PhilD. application; there is no separate application for the Mission Throttle Fellowship. Preference will be given to applicants from diverse backgrounds and historically underrepresented groups. Recipients will receive a scholarship equal to full tuition for the PhilD. program.
